Where We Grew
Up
To
me, Bonalbo is my belongin place … I’ve never known another place
like it, and I’ve travelled quite a bit around New South Wales. All
my attitudes to life I got from this town.
Ruby Langford,
author, ‘The Koori way: belongin places’, Drusilla Modjeska (ed.),
in Inner Cities: Australian Women’s Sense of Place, 1989.
As
a child, I lived in a fantasy world and my favouriteplace of all time
growing up was sitting outside or inside this big aviary that Dad
gave me, with my canaries and finches. And I could sit there for hours
in the beautiful sunshine of Perth and just go off into another world
… and now I relate sunshine to happiness ...
