The
congregation was
made up of devout believers who found comfort, warmth and companionship
in their tiny synagogue. Here they celebrated the birth of a son,
witnessed his debut as a man when he had his Barmitzvah at the age
of thirteen and celebrated the weddings of their children. When a
member of the congregation died, his fellow worshippers visited his
home every night for a week to say prayers in his memory.
